Hyperemesis Gravidarum feat. Temi R | @FirstTimeMumDotCom

LISTEN on Apple | Spotify | Google | Anchor

Hyperemesis Gravidarum is a debilitating condition that causes sufferers extreme nausea, near-constant vomiting, weight loss, dehydration and even fainting in pregnancy. The first time I heard about Hyperemesis Gravidarum was just a couple of years ago, when Temi talked about her experience having the condition. To  be very honest, I still didn't quite grasp what HG was until she recommended The Sick Film for me to watch.
Temi was diagnosed with HG after suffering through weeks of vomiting almost 20 times a day, and some medical practitioners/doctors who waved her sickness away. In this episode, she shares what the experience was like for her, especially as a Black (African) woman, and talked about the PTSD she still deals with from that very dark period in her life.
