Hyperemesis Gravidarum feat. Temi R | @FirstTimeMumDotCom

LISTEN on Apple | Spotify | Google | Anchor

Hyperemesis Gravidarum is a debilitating condition that causes sufferers extreme nausea, near-constant vomiting, weight loss, dehydration and even fainting in pregnancy. The first time I heard about Hyperemesis Gravidarum was just a couple of years ago, when Temi talked about her experience having the condition. To  be very honest, I still didn't quite grasp what HG was until she recommended The Sick Film for me to watch.
Temi was diagnosed with HG after suffering through weeks of vomiting almost 20 times a day, and some medical practitioners/doctors who waved her sickness away. In this episode, she shares what the experience was like for her, especially as a Black (African) woman, and talked about the PTSD she still deals with from that very dark period in her life.

Public Pregnancy Announcements: YAY or NAY - Episode 34

Listen on APPLE | SPOTIFY | GOOGLE | ANCHOR

After trying to conceive for almost two years after I got married, and publicly talking about it on my YouTube channel and blog, it made perfect sense to me to announce my pregnancy when I finally got pregnant. Almost 3 years to the day, I publicly announced that I was pregnant on my blog and social media... and then a few days later, I found myself in a situation where I repeatedly asked whether I jinxed myself by going public.

I Got My Tubes Tied feat. Kiki Makanjuola - Episode 24

Listen on APPLE | SPOTIFY | GOOGLE | ANCHOR
What makes a woman decide to tie her tubes aka undergo a tubal ligation? Why does she decide to go that route as opposed to other methods of contraception like the use of condoms, birth control pills or implants, IUDs, or even having her partner get a vasectomy? It is not an easy decision to make, nor is it one taken lightly. Is it solely her decision, because well, it's her body?

In this episode, I have a candid conversation with my sister, Kiki Makanjuola that centers around her decision to get her tubes tied. In an honest and transparent exchange, she shares her thought process in coming to her decision that she did not want anymore children. She touches on why she got the tubal ligation done, as opposed to her husband going through a vasectomy.  She also gives her opinion on whether it is a decision to be made solely by the woman, or whether her partner needs to consulted.
